Starting A Business During The Pandemic.

Updated: May 27, 2021

A Pandemic Might Be A Good Time To Start A New Business. Here's Why...

Did you know that Uber, Square, Airbnb, WhatsApp and Venmo (just to name a few) are all high-profile companies that were created out of the last recession? Difficult times are seen as good times to start a new business. Why? Well for one, there is less competition. Second, with difficult times comes changes. Whether these changes are positive or negative, they're going to bring up new customer needs.

The New Norm

It's all about innovation. The purpose of this article isn't to tell you that your "wellness tea brand" idea is no longer good now that we're in the middle of a pandemic. We need to determine what customers need now, rather than before. For example, they need a new safe and efficient way to order and receive the product. They need new ways to enjoy the product while social distancing. They need new incentives to order and reorder the product now that their purchase behavior has changed. Consider the future of customer service, rather than recreate old systems.

Fear of Failure

Yes, starting a new business and risking it all during a pandemic sounds scary. But so does trusting that a company will take care of you and promise your position/employment for the next 30-40 years. If the current unfortunate times remind you of anything, it might be that employment is not guaranteed. You could be replaced and let go in an instant. And if you ask me, that sounds even scarier than owning a company where you have full and complete control... right? Life should be exciting! Working towards somebody else's dream is not.

Say Goodbye To Your Bulls--t Job

I don't really have much to say here.. I mean that's it. You get get to leave your bs job and finally do something for you. You get to spend your time doing something more meaningful, rather that worrying what your boss is going to nag about for the next 8 hours.

So, while starting a company in the midst of a global economic crisis might be the last thing on your lockdown to-do list... it might not be such a crazy idea. Check out some home-based business startup ideas here. Thanks for reading!
