Take Care of Yourself.

The life of an entrepreneur is certainly not as glamorous as the media portrays it to be. It's a daily grind that comes with amazing highs, and certainly its lows. With these lows might come some discouragement. But remember, good things take time. So taking care of yourself mentally and physically for the long term is critical when becoming a top industry leader.

“now I listen to clips like these every morning when I wake up.”

Meditate

I used to be completely closed-minded when it came to meditating. To me, the term correlated with a vision of sitting "Indian style" in silence for hours on end. Who honestly has time for that?

I was browsing on Youtube one day and came across a "10 Minute Morning Meditation". The day I was having was stressful, to say the least, so I gave it a go. Now I listen to clips like these every morning when I wake up. People have created and listed many different types. So for example, if I'm feeling anxious I'll search videos for anxiety and calmness. If I'm feeling discouraged I type in, "meditation for fearlessness and success". I've noticed a huge difference, and I've never spent more than 20 minutes each time.

Write It Down

If you're like me, you're the type of person who loves to plan and make lists. So having a weekly planner is essential for running a business. I was sold on a specific planner that included areas where I could review my monthly tasks, jot down my goals and list everything that I'm grateful for. I highly recommend practicing gratitude daily. Enjoying the process is just as important as achieving the goals. It also helps you put what really matters into perspective. When you wake up and go over how grateful you are to have the people, opportunities, and resources that you do in life... the little tif you had at work the night before will just seem silly and not worth your energy anymore.

Blood Flow

It's easy when you first start your business to get stuck at the drawing board for hours and lose track of time. Before you know it, it's dark outside and both of your legs have fallen asleep. But remember, blood circulation is one of the most important functions in the body because it's what makes our bodies work. Try and set aside some time for the gym every day. If you're not a fan of the gym, set an alarm on your phone as a reminder to stand up and walk around, or take a step outside for a bit.

Conclusion

Your business venture may seem like the most important thing in the world to you right now. That's good because that means you're passionate. However, YOU and your health are way more important than any business out there. So always take care of yourself first.
